The Society

The German Society of International Law is devoted to the promotion of Public International Law, Private International Law and other fields of transnational law. For that purpose, it assembles experts from theory and practice qualified in these fields in common scientific endeavours. The core feature is the biannual conferences to which all members are invited. The papers and discussions are published in the Reports (Berichte) of the Society (German with English summaries). In addition, the Society organises workshops (Studientagungen) concerning particular subjects or relating to particular events. Furthermore, study groups (Studiengruppen) are established to deal with specific problems. The Society is actively engaged in scientific cooperation with societies of a similar character. Regular common activities are organised with the Société française pour le droit international.
